“Let’s build together a Europe of peace, work and social justice”: is the title of the initiative promoted by CGIL, CISL and UIL Marche and by the Municipality of Amandola to celebrate Workers’ Day in the Marche. It will take place in Amandola, in the province of Fermo, starting from 10.30 am. The three general secretaries of the unions participate: Giuseppe Santarelli, general secretary of Cgil Marche, Marco Ferracuti, general secretary of Cisl Marche and Claudia Mazzucchelli, secretary of Uil Marche. The procession will start at 10.30 from the Alpini Monument and the rally is scheduled for 11.00 in Piazza Risorgimento.

Other institutional initiatives are planned in the region in which Cgil, Cisl and Uil participate: in Matelica, Pioraco with the participation of the Head of the CISL of Tolentino – Camerino, David Ballini, Recanati, Porto Recanati and Civitanova Marche, in the province of Macerata while in Ancona, in Sirolo, at the Repubblica park, at 5.00 pm, with “Work in safety, safety at work” with the participation of Tiziana Mosca, CGIL, Alessandro Mancinelli, CISL and Giorgio Andreani, UIL.

«Work is our starting point – points out Giuseppe Santarelli, general secretary of CGIL Marchebut it also constitutes our future, that of our region. It is the cornerstone for the stability of our territory. May Day serves to remember this: the centrality of work. And it is article 36 of the Constitution that clarifies its meaning: “work must guarantee proportionate and sufficient remuneration for a free and dignified existence”. Everything that “does not go in this direction cannot benefit anyone and this is why the causes must be removed and the laws changed which have made work more precarious in recent years, placing the Marche among the first in Italy for precarious employment».

«In our region we need a new model of economic development capable of generating stable, adequately paid and safe work. Let’s say enough to so-called poor work, work must be synonymous with dignity and security for all citizens of the Marche region. – raises Marco Ferracuti, general secretary of CISL MarcheWe strongly believe in the value and crucial importance of training, which represents, for us, a fundamental investment for the future of workers and businesses. On Labor Day we want to reaffirm the right to be able to work in a safe and healthy environment: and this is why we are committed every day to combating accidents at work and professional diseases.”

«We ask politicians to put people back at the centre, with their rights starting with the right to work, fairly paid and safe – is the comment of Claudia Mazzucchelli, general secretary of Uil MarcheFor mere partisan interests, individualistic logics have been fueled, undermining the sense of solidarity that must necessarily permeate a civil and democratic society. In order not to leave anyone behind: not young people, who are most susceptible to accidents given that Inail 2023 data indicate that 36% of accidents occurred in those under 35, nor women who too often have low wages, intermittent jobs and are the more subject to the phenomenon of involuntary part-time work”.

Cgil, Cisl and Uil of the Marche will therefore be in the streets on May 1st to once again claim their opposition to a world where, in an increasingly evident way, inequalities are increasing and the great wealth of a few is contrasted with a growing impoverishment of many, even those who have a job but do not allow them to live with dignity. In the Marche region, 4% of the population holds over 20% of the wealth and over 1 third of the population lives with an income of less than 15 thousand euros per year. «We are convinced that the conditions exist to implement a series of actions aimed at redistributing wealth and creating a more equitable and just society and we are ready to discuss with all interlocutors, starting with the Institutional ones, but it is urgent to move from words to deeds » conclude the general secretaries.
