Each city is twinned with a region which, in the event of extreme events, will have to host the citizens affected by the disaster: those of Ercolano in Emilia-Romagna, those of Torre del Greco in Lombardy, the people of Portice in Piedmont, and so on.
Many citizens did not feel the tremors
It was precisely on the fate of the citizens of Portici that the mayor Enzo Cuomo in an interview with Adnkronos: “With respect to this plan we ask again the Department of Civil Protection and the Campania Region to be destined for Cilento rather than Piedmont, as the plan indicates: many citizens of Portici they have a home in the Cilento area and from a morphological point of view Cilento is more similar to Portici“.
A request received through official channels through a resolution in the city council dated 2019 which the mayor decides to renew. The topic “evacuation” remains for many still a taboo in the Vesuvian area: Cuomo himself adds that very few citizens would have felt the tremors of the last few days, one of which had Portici as its epicenter, 8 km deep. But, scientifically, the risk factor exists: for this reason, the attention of the authorities remains high, in the hope of not having to never implement what was planned.
