Busto Arsizio, former regional councilor cannot pay allowance to ex-wife: acquitted

Too poor to pay maintenance to his daughters and wife. The former Lombard regional councilor Massimo Buscemi (Roberto Formigoni council) thus defended himself before the judge of the Court of Busto Arsizio Cristina Ceffa who acquitted him with a broad formula: the fact does not constitute a crime.

The former politician, who had agreed to a 2 year and 2 month sentence for the reimbursement scandal in 2021 and who had been sentenced to one year and six months for forgery in 2014, never paid the amount established for the maintenance of his ex-wife and her two daughters. A total of 3 thousand euros per month which the former councilor never paid from 2015 to 2021.

Defender Antonio Argento explained why: after his years in politics, Buscemi would have had very limited income. Despite the 436 thousand euros received from the Lombardy Region as a bonus in 2015, he would not have been able to pay the amount agreed for alimony. Buscemi never appeared in the courtroom during the proceedings. The civil parties, represented by the lawyer Tiberio Massironi, are perplexed and are now awaiting the judge’s reasons.
