Municipality of Messina And AMAM today, Tuesday 30 April, during a meeting with the press, they illustrated the interventions, which have reached the fifth step within the timetable of the works for the mitigation of the vulnerabilities of theFiumefreddo aqueduct, which will start at 7 am on Friday 3 May, for a duration of 24 hours, with the consequent water interruption in the City and resumption of water supply at full capacity on Sunday 5 May. Illustrating the technical details and the operational plan were the mayor Federico Basile and the president of AMAM Loredana Bonasera, the councilor Massimiliano Minutoli and the members of the Board of Directors Alessandra Franza and Adriano Grassi and the general director of the SpA Pierfrancesco Donato.
Basile’s explanations
“This meeting serves to promptly provide useful information to citizens regarding the fifth water separation in the City scheduled for May 3, as we have established since last October, the date of the first step of interventions”so the mayor Federico Basile. “I believe that all the steps have been maintained as per the timetable. These interventions will concern the replacement of the joints from Letojanni to Itala, and in addition to those targeted as part of the Fiumefreddo vulnerability project. – Basile underlined – a series of important activities in the sector regarding the works started by Gazzi All’Annunziata”. The mayor then invited citizens to consume drinking water without waste.
Bonasera’s clarifications
Regarding the interventions from a technical point of view, the president Bonasera he explained that “the fifth water separation interventions as scheduled, the smaller ones will be carried out in the municipalities of Alí Terme and Itala. Control and monitoring will then always be guaranteed, in addition to the support of the municipal COC, as already happened for the previous water disconnections that affected the city”.
Minutoli illustrates the assistance plan for the population
Councilor Minutoli instead illustrated the methods, times and contact details of the COC, which will be active starting from 8 am on Friday 3 May to midnight; Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May from 7.30am to midnight. “We will always be supported by the Messina Social City operators and volunteers and it will be possible to contact the COC to highlight critical issues at the telephone number 090-22866. Regarding calls, it is always advisable to limit them, especially those requesting supplies, when there are still water reserves in the tanks, in order to avoid congestion during the most urgent interventions”has explained Minutes.
