Rovigo it is the sixth provincial capital municipality of Veneto which, in 2023he cashed i greater proceeds from fines and penalties paid by private individuals violations of the Highway Code. The data emerges from the analysis carried out by Facile.it on Siope data (the information system of the operations of public bodies, updated to 15 February 2024 with reference to the item “proceeds from fines and sanctions for violations of the rules of the road to be paid by families” relating to the year 2023 and only to Italian municipalities). Rovigo cashed in last year more than 3 million euros. In total, in 2023, the Venetian capital municipalities collected over 71 million euros.
Road fines, Rovigo sixth in the Veneto rankings
If as mentioned Rovigo occupies sixth place in the rankings and is positioned on the lowest step of the podium Venice (14.4 million).
At the top of the Venetian ranking we find Padua (21 million) e Verona. They follow in fourth place Vicenza and in fifth position Treviso. Last Bellunowith over 600,000 euros obtained from fines for violating the Highway Code.

The ranking by amounts per capita
Facile.it also calculated the value of “fine per capita” (as the ratio between the revenues recorded in Siope and the number of resident inhabitants) although, it should be specified that not all fines are imposed on resident motorists and, indeed, in some areas tourists and commuters contribute significantly to the overall figure.
From the analysis it emerges that also in first place in this new ranking is Padua with a per capita fine of 103 euros.
Second step for Verona (81€) while the third place on the podium which belongs to the municipality of Rovigo (62 euros). Following – at a very short distance between them – Treviso (59 euros), Venice (58 euros) and Vicenza (57 euros). Closing the ranking, once again, is the municipality of Bellunowith a per capita fine of just 18 euros.

Small municipalities
Limiting the analysis to Venetian municipalities with fewer than 3,000 residentstakes first place Benaco Towers (VR) which, with just over 2,900 inhabitants, in 2023 it grossed more than 2.4 million euros.
Second, third and fourth place for three municipalities in the province of Rovigo; They lie with Baruchella (2,034 inhabitants, more than 1.7 million euros in fines), Bosaro (1,424 inhabitants, 1.1 million euros) and Ficarolo (2,153 inhabitants, over 980 thousand euros).
