Imola remembers Senna and Ratzenberger: the initiatives of May 1st – rossomotori.it

On Wednesday 1st May in Imola the day will be entirely dedicated to Ratzenberger and Senna: the initiatives 30 years after their tragic deaths.

30 years later since the death of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenbergerin Imola there will be various initiatives above all on Wednesday 1st May. From free entry to the Autodromo to an evening show, passing through the highlight at the Tamburello with the institutions also present. Below is the program for the day.

1st May: the initiatives in Imola for Senna and Ratzenberger

In the world of F1, April 30th and May 1st are always special dates to remember, something he also wanted to do Imola with some initiatives to remember Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna. 30 years after their death on that tragic weekend of the San Marino GP on the Santerno track, Imola will pay homage to the two pilots. The program will in fact occupy the whole day with the expected highlight shortly after 2.00 pm at the Tamburello curve. A commemoration that is part of the many events of the “Senna 30 years” organized by the Municipality of Imola with the Ayrton Senna InstituteInternational Cooperation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Emilia Romagna Region.

Wednesday 1st May, from 9.00 to 18.00, the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola will remain open to the public free of charge. The first event is scheduled for 9.30 am; in fact there will be on the track a walk called “Flag Mob”dedicated to Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna, open to all and with the invitation to wear the colors of the flags of the two drivers, therefore Austria and Brazil.

Environment at 1.30 pm the solemn moment will begin with the presence of the institutions. At the Tamburello curve both Ratzenberger and Senna will be remembered, also through the placing of bouquets of flowers at the sites of the two accidents. They will be there on the track Marco Panierimayor of Imola; Stefano DomenicaliCEO of F1; Gian Carlo Minardi, president of Formula Imola. Also present Antonio TajaniVice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mauro VieiraMinister of Foreign Relations of the Federative Republic of Brazil; Alexander SchallenbergMinister of Foreign Affairs of Austria.

At 2.17 pm, the exact time when Senna’s accident at the Tamburello occurred on 1 May 1994, 30 years ago, a minute’s silence will be observed.

The day will then continue at the Media Center of the Autodromo; it will be screened at 4.30 pm a short documentary on Roland Ratzenberger. At the end of this, at around 4.45pm, there will then be a moment dedicated to Senna with the journalist Franco Nugnes who will present his book “Senna. The truth”. Access is free while seats last.

Everything will finally end at the Ebe Stignani municipal theater with the show “Fresi tells Senna”. The monologue held by Stefano Fresi will tell the life of Ayrton Senna through a text taken from the book “Perdere Senna” by the director and writer Giorgio J. Squarcia.
