ANCONA – It will reopen to 5pm today, Tuesday 30 AprilThe seafront of via XXIX Settembre after the redevelopment works, and at the same time they will be available again of the city approximately 30 parking spaces (blue stop) that had been occupied by the construction site area.

The redevelopment

The redevelopment of the Via XXIX Settembre seafront is part of a broader context of urban recovery of access to the historic outskirts of the city along the Northern entrance. Over the last few months this area has been affected by a series of distinct and successive interventions, achieved through funding coming from the participation of the Municipality of Ancona in specific ministerial and European tenders (via XXIX Settembre, Archi, via Marconi, ITI Waterfront 3.0 seafront lighting) and, in part, with the institution’s own funds (completion of the seafront in via XXIX September).

The works in via XXIX Settembre were authorized by the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Ancona, Pesaro and Urbino. The executive project for completion was divided into two functional lots. It is completed like this path which will qualify the historic city from an architectural and cultural point of view, connecting the Mole and the archaeological remains that unravel between Palazzo degli Anziani, the medieval chapel, up to the Captain’s house and the remains of the Trajan portwhich a specific recovery project will return to the Doric capital, as a point of union between the sea and the city.

The project

The first lot concerned the linear stretch that develops after the statue of Trajan and ends before Porta Pia (for a total amount of the intervention equal to 200 thousand euros). The second lot involved the stretch that develops after Porta Pia and reaches the entrance to the Mandracchio (for a total amount of the intervention of 320 thousand euros). After the intervention relating to the new lighting of the sea front (ITI Waterfront), which involved the demolition of the screed and the old cement tile flooring in the section of the pedestrian path between the statue of Trajan and Porta Pia, it was possible to give unity and completeness of the redevelopment intervention, with the replacement of the flooring that goes from the end of the historic white stone flooring next to the statue of Trajan (a few meters after the new bus stop shelter) up to the beginning of the new floor that surrounds the historic pavement of Porta Pia.

The continuity with the floor recovered near the statue of Trajan is given by the use of the same Trani stone, characterized however by a different grain of the surface treatment. The Trani stone slabs were mounted transversally with respect to the longitudinal course of the section. The Lot 2 intervention completed the redevelopment of the last portion of the seafront, with an operation to bring the entire balustrade up to standard (in the portion that goes from the last flowerbed after the Monument to the Fallen and Martyrs of the Resistance until the end of entrance sidewalk to Mandracchio), and with the replacement of the flooring. To guarantee coherence and unity to the seafront, the balustrade created is the same as the one already installed with a previous contract: white concrete with prefabricated modules characterized by Greek crosses, with alternating small, medium and large pillars. With the same design criterion, the flooring is the same as Lot 1.
