He lost control of the car, crashing at full speed into a wall and risking hitting a pedestrian who was passing by a few seconds earlier. A near tragedy in Brindisi, due to a road accident that occurred in the early afternoon of Sunday 28 April in via Umberto Maddalena, in the Casale district.
The terrible crash was filmed by the security camera of a house, located on the pavement opposite to that of the impact. The video shows a BMW 5 Series Station Wagon going off the road at breakneck speed and then crashing into the wall of an apartment building. After partially knocking it down, the vehicle continued to spin, losing a wheel and pieces of bodywork.
A very violent collision, which occurred in the same point where, a few seconds earlier, a man was calmly walking on the pavement, risking being hit by the out-of-control car.
The video of the impact, published on social media, has gone viral on the web, and already has tens of thousands of views and shares by users.
The driver of the car was a 44-year-old from Brindisi who, based on what emerged from subsequent investigations, had gotten behind the wheel after consuming alcoholic beverages. The blood alcohol level was in fact higher than the limits permitted by law. Following the accident, the man suffered injuries to his face and was transferred under yellow code to the “Perrino” hospital in Brindisi, from where he was discharged after a few hours. He was charged with driving under the influence and had his license suspended. The car was seized.
