Estensi Gardens, green weekend in Ferrara La Nuova Ferrara

Ferrara Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May Massari returns to Parco “Estensi Gardens”, the market exhibition of floriculture and high-end craftsmanship now in its 19th edition. The exhibition offers a variety of horticultural excellence, typical of the season, the result of collaboration with dozens of farms coming from various parts of Italy and with themed craft stands. «This year we have some significant innovations, including the free admission Stefano Mancuso lectio magistralis on Friday 3 May at 5.30 pm at the Estense roomparticipation with a workshops by Maria Rita Stirpe, the first botanical illustrator in Italy and the Giardini Estensi mascot created by Claudio Gualandi”, explained Paolo Orsatti, president of Ferrara Pro Art, the association organizing the event, present with Giuliana Artioli of the board. They will be there guided tour discovering the blooms of the garden of Schifanoia palace with the garden designer Manfredi Patitucci (4 May, 10am) and then, both days from 10am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm there will be the opening of the botanical garden in Corso Porta Mare, 2B. «”Giardini Estensi” attracts many visitors even outside the territory for its great quality not only as a market exhibition but also as a crossroads of knowledge, skills, traditions and innovations dedicated to the environment and biodiversity”, added councilor Angela Travagli. The meetings inside the park will start on Saturday at 10.30 am with “Entomology, what a passion!” edited by Carlo Arrigo Casadio, will continue at 12 with “The dream of vegetable gardens being gardens” edited by Paola Roncarati and Licia Vignotto, in the afternoon Roberto Solimé will talk about microorganisms as good nature’s alliesand their use in environments, in agriculture and livestock farming and finally at 5.30pm Angela Zaffignani will talk about the value of spontaneous vegetation for an eco-sustainable garden. The following day will open at 10.30 am with a meeting dedicated to essential oils by Stefania Liccardi, while at 3 pm in the company of Giovanna Mattioli we will talk about gardens through films. The meetings will be concluded by Carlo Pagani who at 4.30 pm will discuss the biodiversity of the family orchard. The weekend will be full of workshops, including the appointment with Maria Rita Stirpe who will meet botanical watercolor enthusiasts to illustrate technical aspects of this genre (Saturday 11.30-12.30 and 16.30-17.30, Sunday 11.30-12.30 and 16-17) from contemporary crochet to the manufacture of terracotta ocarinas and whistles, from copper working to children’s gardening, from basket-making with weaving of plant materials to carded wool, spun wool and carpentry workshops. There will be no shortage of shows, games and animated readings by Roberto Agnelli. «”Giardini Estensi” reminds us how important the care of private greenery is, which is no less important than public greenery», concluded Alessandro Balboni, councilor for the environment.
