Giancarlo De Venuto was appointed president of Assoturismo Assohotel Confesercenti of the Puglia region. With solid experience in the tourism sector, De Venuto outlined the guidelines of his presidency during the installation ceremony.
“To raise the level of tourism it is essential to join forces within the associations to outline a concrete strategy based on the progress of recent years,” says De Venuto. He emphasizes the importance of “concertation“, that is, a strategic collaboration between the different tourism trade unions, which taking into account specific needs – even if sometimes conflicting – can culminate in a harmonious development of territories and individual activities, for collective benefit.
According to De Venuto, it is possible to overcome the recent crises and uncertainties only by adopting a more organized and less fragmented approach to tourism promotion, replacing the old practice of promoting isolated products with a systemic vision.
In conclusion, the future policies of Assoturismo Assohotel Confesercenti Puglia aim for broader integration. “An effective tourist destination cannot be built only on hotels, but must also include travel agencies, tour guides, transportation, culture and folklore. This return to the concept of concertation is fundamental for our future”, states De Venuto.
Mario Landriscina, coordinator of Assoturismo, underlines the importance of the quality of services. “We are committed to carrying out the second edition of the training course in collaboration with theUniversity of Bari to raise skills in the tourism sector. Improving hospitality increases travelers’ preference for our region, thus allowing us to expand our market share”, declares Landriscina.
