PALERMO – A 30-year-old man, originally from the province of Palermo, was arrested by Palermo Polfer officers for attempted theft from a traveller. The alleged perpetrator of the attempted pickpocket had left the Polfer offices only five minutes earlier where he had been taken for checks.

The 30-year-old was stopped by officers as he tried to leave the central station after trying to rob a girl who was buying a train ticket. Taking advantage of the victim’s distraction and the fact that she already had her bag open, he approached from behind and put his hand into the bag.

However, the woman sensed the movement and turned around quickly enough to surprise him. Having been discovered, the thirty-year-old attempted to escape and was stopped after a few meters by Railway Police officers on surveillance duty inside the railway facility. At the end of the checks he was subjected to house arrest.
