From Sunday 5 May the season starts again historic trains from the FS Foundation in Lombardy.
To support the activities to enhance the historical heritage of the railway, Lombardy region provides 600 thousand euros every year. Of this budget, approx 300 thousand euros they are intended for historic trains, operated by Fondazione Fs.
“A very successful initiative – explains the regional councilor Barbara Mazzali – which, thanks to the collaboration between the Lombardy Region and the FS Foundation, every year allows thousands of people to discover itineraries and landscapes of our region through an authentic time travel, on board trains that have made the history of Italian railways. An innovative way to discover the charm of unique convoys, where finally getting on board becomes a pleasure to share, to appreciate enchanting places in our Lombardy”.
The calendar this year foresees 20 circulations. Among the main innovations introduced compared to the past, two vintage train circulations on the itinerary Milan – Brescia – Desenzano with departures scheduled for June 9th and September 1st, e from Milan to Genoa on 14 July and 3 November with the Etr 252 ‘Arlecchino’.
The most popular itineraries are proposed again: Laveno Express, Lario Express, Sebino Express, Lomellina Express, Besanino Express.
Finally, two historic trains are planned on the itinerary Milan – Chiavenna is between Milan and Cremona for the Nougat Festival.
On historic trains it will always be possible transport your bicycle for free on board using specially equipped luggage compartments. The boys up to 14 years they travel for free.
