Being young in Piacenza, presentation of the survey

“Being young in Piacenza”, Marisa Anconelli of Iress on the survey: “We listened, no single vision emerged“.

On Tuesday 30 April, from approximately 2pm to 5.30pm, the Carmine Open Laboratory in Piazza Casali will host the public meeting of presentation of the survey carried out by the Iress Instituteentrusted by the municipal administration, “Being young in Piacenza: visions, experiences, desires. An action research on the condition of youth”.

The objective of the researchexplains Marisa Anconelli, head of IRESSis to listen to the voices of girls and boys in the city. Above all, we try to understand how they live in the area. In particular, how they move, what places they frequent and what interests they have. A qualitative in-depth method was chosen for the interviews. It means that we went to listen to young people and did not rely on a questionnaire.

What emerged from the answers?

Not a single vision emerged, but many different facets. It’s difficult to find one interview the same as another, there is so much variety. There was also a desire to express one’s thoughts. They said some very interesting things about the city.

The event

It is open to all interested citizens and is aimed primarily at the research target (who spoke with a representative sample of the age group between 16 and 29) and at those who work in contact with the world of young people.

The program

The institutional greetings from the mayor Katia Tarasconi and the councilor for Youth Policies, University and Research Francesco Brianzi will be followed by a brief illustration of the report created, edited by the Iress researchers Marisa Anconelli, Rosella Piccini, Greta Nicodemi, Maria Rimondi and Anna Maria Bertazzoni. Those present will then be invited to participate in one of the various workshops focused respectively on city spaces, communication and work.

The final moment is scheduled for 5.15pm with the presentation of three projects and tools that the Piacenza Youth Service and the municipal administration are carrying out in response to some of the requests expressed by the girls and boys interviewed: the map of services, the initiatives dedicated to work and orientation (“A tempo” and “Piacenza alquadrato” in particular, alongside “Orientagiovani”), as well as the organisation’s Participatory Budget.
