The European Bench opens in Russi

Thursday 9 May, on the occasion of Europe Day, the Ravenna section of the European Federalist Movement and the Istituto Comprensivo Statale “A. Baccarini” of Russi, in collaboration with the Porta Nova Social Cultural Center, inaugurate the “EUROPEAN BENCH” at the Masoni Park, at 10.00 am, in via Don Minzoni in Russi.

Europe Day, which takes place every year on 9 May, celebrates the historic 1950 declaration in which the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman set out the idea of a new form of political collaboration in Europe, considering the act of the birth of what is now the European Union.

With this initiative we want to reiterate – and reaffirm – the bond between Italy and the European Union, with the aim of sharing the values of peace and solidarity which are the basis of the European project, bringing the symbols of the EU and peace on the territory.

By directly involving the students of the “A. Baccarini”, through the simple and symbolic gesture of painting the bench with the colors of the European flag, we also want to reflect together with them and the local community on the integration process, on the sharing of “European values”, as well as on the importance of active European citizenship, capable of generating a feeling of European identity.
