The Municipality of Parma has joined the Eurocities Network –

The Municipality of Parma has joined Eurocities Network, the leading non-profit network of European cities, founded in 1986, based in Brussels. The membership is part of a process undertaken by the Municipality of Parma to strengthen the theme of internationalisation and further develop the international relations. Even more so since the ducal city was chosen by the European Commission to participate in the Mission for 100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030.

Parma has several collaborations with other European cities in the name of cooperation, co-planning and the exchange of good practices, within European programs such as Erasmus +, Horizon Europe, JPI Urban Europe, Interreg Central Europe, Interreg Europe, LIFE, Urbact IV.

Membership of the Eurocities network therefore constitutes a valid tool for discussing common challenges related to sustainable development with other European cities.

Eurocities Networkin fact, is a network composed of 200 among the main ones European cities, including some important Italian cities. It represents more than 150 million people distributed in 38 countries and offers a platform in which participating local authorities can share and discuss experiences, projects and good practices: thematic forums, working groups, activities and events useful for finding innovative and shared solutions to common problems are organised.

Eurocities also collaborates with the main ones European institutions and is committed to increasing the role of local authorities within European governance, addressing local problems and key global challenges such as: climate neutrality, digital transition, fight against inequalities, building an inclusive society.

Satisfaction was expressed by the Mayor Michele Guerra, who declared: “Joining the Eurocities Network will allow us to discuss at a continental level on issues related to sustainable development, in its various forms, in line with the objectives dictated by the United Nations in the UN Agenda 2030 and the European Green Deal . Furthermore, Eurocities has actively collaborated with the European Commission for the development of the Mission for 100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 with the aim of achieving climate neutrality by 2030, a strategic project for our city”.
