Ancona, 30 April 2024 – Even with the rain, it will be a May Day worth celebrating in the five provinces of the Marche region. They are different appointments scheduled. From Ancona to Pesaro: here’s one guideprovince by province, to choose how and where to spend May 1st.
The weather forecast in the region
Ancona: there is the San Ciriaco Fair
In the capital, the usual event will take place until May 5th San Ciriaco Fair. For the occasion they will be 437 exhibitors (in 2023 there were 424) divided by product categories. 12 regions will be present: Abruzzo, Calabria, Lazio, Liguria, Piedmont, Puglie, Romagna, Sardinia, Sicily, Umbria, Veneto as well as Belgium. The Fair will host numerous stalls, around 360, coming from all over Italy, the craft market and the sample exhibition and street food. They will also return Rides in the Passetto area. The street vendors will be located along Viale della Vittoria – from Via Giannelli to Piazza IV Novembre – and the exhibitions of Typical Flavors will also find space here. On the right side of the Avenue, the occupation will start from via Orsi up to piazza IV Novembre. On the left, however, the street vendors will line up from Via Giannelli to the former Dorico stadium from the intersection with Via Bianchi to the end of Viale della Vittoria. In this case, the last stretch will be left for the passage of residents.
In Corso Garibaldiinstead, it will be held on Market and trade fair in Piazza Cavour. In Piazza Pertini, the refreshment points have already opened from Tuesday 30 April. The counters will be open from Wednesday 1st May to Saturday 4th, from 8.30am to 10pm. While in Piazza Pertini the start of administration will begin at 6pm on Tuesday 30th April and in the following days from 12pm to midnight. It will be set up with benches and seats.
Ascoli: Fair in Arquata del Trento
In Ascoli, compared to Ancona, no particular events are reported. For those who still want to take a tour, there is it fair in nearby Arquata del Tronto, organized by the local Pro Loco. A traditional event with food stands and activities connected to the area. For this new edition, the program also includes the “Bike Ride” curated by ‘Star Tours Incoming’ by Romina Traini. In case of rain, instead of the cycling tour there will be an excursion dedicated to the May blooms. We will look for the typical blooms of the territory and of the period and those resulting from climate change. Otherwise it’s always better to go towards the coast, like in San Benedetto del Tronto, where several chalets have DJ sets scheduled.
Fermo: Zero Assoluto concert in Porto Sant’Elpidio
Even in the Fermo area, it is better to move nearby to look for cool events. In fact, at 9pm on May 1st, the Zero Assoluto concert in the central Piazza Garibaldi of Porto Sant’Elpidio, which will close a five-day celebration organized by the local municipality. Also in the city, several seafront chalets will also open, such as Polpette and Pampero Beach, which will kick off the summer season with various DJ sets (despite the rain).
Macerata: May 1st is celebrated at the Diaz Gardens
In Macerata, for May 1st, the appointment is at Diaz Gardens with “May 1st in the Gardens”. It will be there from 10am until midnight live music and DJ setsin addition to food stands, a corner dedicated to children with inflatable games and the possibility of taking a ride on the large Ferris wheel, installed near the roundabout (which will remain active until May 18th), for the price of just one euro.
The food stands they will offer street food based on traditional foods of the period such as fava, porchetta, pecorino and ciauscolo (provided by Proloco Macerata) and fried fish from the ‘Giorgio’ fish market in Rione Marche. But also penne alla norcina, tagliatelle with duck sauce, chops, sausages and cooked chips (from the Piediripa Pro Loco). At 4pm there will be a snack for all the children present, with free pizza, cotton candy and ice cream offered by the Almalù ice cream shop (provided by the Pro Loco Macerata). So, from aperitif time, still lots of music until late at night.
Pesaro: from the “Gran Festa dell’Aia” to “Campagna Amica”
In Pesaro, for May 1st, the “Great Hague Festival”, which includes fantastic days in the countryside, in the open air, dedicated to fun and discovery. A perfect event for both friends and families, where there will be many workshops and activities for children. The days take place from 10am to 6pm at the ‘Pascucci Vivai’ farm, but booking will be mandatory.
