“so we opened our place on the beach”

Come and work in our paradise, what are you waiting for? The invitation comes from 9 thousand kilometers away, to be precise from Koh Lipe, a small Thai island of two square kilometers, renamed the “Maldives of Thailand”. A slice of Eden where in 2014 the 59-year-old Pier Fabbri and his partner Chicca Cavioli, 57, opened the Kioskino, a bar-restaurant in perfect Romagna style.

Fabbri, how did you turn the page?

«I worked in retail in Rimini where I managed clubs for almost thirty years, including Bar 70 in via Covignano, until I met Chicca, who then became my partner. As a professional diver she frequented this island with its white beaches and crystal clear water, in fact she had fallen in love with it since 2001. For me, however, it all started with a holiday with her but it didn’t take long to understand that I would like to try work experience abroad. In Italy my sector had become unsustainable from any point of view, so at first I was intrigued, then the possibility of taking over a chiringuito on the beach, in the south of the island, really became apparent. Relaxed atmosphere and the sound of the waves as a backdrop: the best. At the time the place was limited to sandwiches and we took care of making it Romagna-style with a wide range of piadinas and piadinas but also carpaccios and handmade pasta first courses. With moka coffee as a grand finale. It was 2014 and the enthusiasm has never waned while the turnover of customers at our 12 tables is constant.”
