A new championship begins. Perugia, after finishing the regular season in fourth place, has another opportunity to regain Serie B. The road is long and passes through the playoffs. The path of the Grifo of Alessandro Formisano, a freshly renewed coach, will begin with a four-day delay: the red and whites will not debut in the promotion play-offs on May 7th, but rather on Saturday the 11th. The reference is to Taranto’s appeal against the 4-point penalty: the Apulian club is fifth in its group with 62 points and, if the penalty were cancelled, it would join Benevento and Avellino in second place.
Perugia, after the defeat against league leaders Cesena in the last round of the championship, will return to the field in the second group round against the worst-placed of the teams that qualified after the first round. It will be played at “Curi” and it will be a dry match. Formisano is confident: “We will give everything to win the playoffs with the awareness that we have to do seriously”, he said. Watch out for your opponents. Al Grifo will face Rimini if they beat Gubbio; Pontedera should get the better of Pescara (and victory for Braglia’s rossoblù) or the winner between Juventus Next Gen and Arezzo if Gubbio and Pescara pass.

The first leg final will be played on 5 June, while the return leg is scheduled for 9 June.
