SERIES C NOW 2023-24: ALBERTO SPAGNOLI’S COMMENT

ANCONA – Fifteen goals, seven assists. For Alberto Spagnoli a season to remember. “Against Lucchese we had to try to win at all costs, we did everything we could to try and bring home the three points because we knew that anything could happen in Fermo. In the first half we didn’t think about it, in the interval I didn’t ask anything because it’s not something I like. Then, around the 70th minute, the news came from the bench that Pescara had won 3-0 and from then on we were calmer. The last minutes were peaceful, we managed them. However, I think it was an open match especially in the first half, there weren’t any huge opportunities but we played it on equal terms. The coach asked me to stay more central and not to go to the wing so as not to take up too much energy, because for an attacker it is difficult not to be clear in front of goal. Boscaglia certainly brought experience, but it’s not that Colavitto didn’t have it: he simply had a different approach, he managed to make us grow and I think this is clear for everyone to see. There was attachment, commitment, no one who pushed against it and no one who took their leg off. The matches were prepared well, we managed to bring home important points and we arrived at the end with this result, which is a huge release because we have suffered so much this season. The fan can express what he feels inside, going under the curve and hearing “We deserve more” emotionally makes me feel bad, but I understand. I thank them because they have always been there, so many of them have always come and cheered and supported us for every minute of the matches. They expect more from the players and the management and they are right about this, it is clear that now we need to start again with clear ideas and try to do the best possible. I’ve had a good time here in these two years, it’s been a sort of rebirth because for an attacker, scoring is the most important thing. In past years I did a lot of dirty work and it paid little, in Ancona however I still worked hard but I also found a little more confidence, also thanks to the coaches I had and I managed to find continuity level of achievement that I have never had. I renewed, I’m fine in Ancona.”
