“Let’s take the anti-war Faber on tour”

The Cesena group Artenovecento, which has been exploring and re-proposing the repertoire of Fabrizio De André for over twenty years, held the first concert of the 2024 tour at the L’Albero dei Pavoni tavern, with a full house for twenty days, in Montenovo di Montiano. Artenovecento have been active since 2002 as a tribute group to Fabrizio De André. Their concerts are known for the great participation, the emotional intensity and the care of the repertoire, renewed from time to time and enriched with anecdotes about the singer-songwriter and his works. In every context, from the theater to the tavern, their homage to De André is always a special event that enjoys the attention of a large, fond and curious audience. For the occasion the group performed in a quartet formation with Matteo Peraccini (vocals and guitars), Emiliano Ceredi (guitar, bouzouki, percussion, vocals), Gioele Sindona (violin and vocals) and Sandro Frattini (bass) proposing the most beautiful songs by De André in an acoustic and intimate atmosphere, plus some forays into the repertoires of other artists. The group’s spokesperson is Matteo Peraccini who says: “We started on the evening of the eve of April 25th by putting in the setlist, in addition to those by Fabrizio De Andrè, also two songs to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the Liberation which are Bella Ciao and Fischia il vento and two songs by the Csi, Consortium of independent musicians, which are “Guardali nei occhi” linked to the Resistance and “Cupe vampe” born as a testimony to the war in Sarajevo and which we sing with our hearts turned to Gaza and the dozens of scattered war hotspots in the world”.

Matteo Peraccini also talks about the choice of Fabrizio De Andrè’s songs to propose to the public in this 2024 tour: “This evening we chose mostly Faber songs with a more political and anti-militarist meaning, from “Canzone del Maggio” to “Guerra di Pietro” passing through “Sidun”, “Fiume Sand Creeck” and “Andrea”. The ones most requested by the public are “La canzone di Marinella”, “Volta la carta” and “Smeasured prayer”. The funniest one is “Don Raffaè “”. Peraccini also explains why Fabrizio De Andrè is still so loved by the public: “With his songs he has always managed to express, using simple words, thoughts that many of us struggle to focus on. And today everyone still sings them, from kids to to pensioners and we see it during our concerts”.
