Mattarella’s decree: «Anzio and Nettuno still marked by organized crime»

“To Anzio And Neptune the overall recovery and rehabilitation action of the local institution and the social reality, still marked by organized crime, has not been exhausted”.

This is what the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella wrote in his decree in which he extended for another six months the stay of the extraordinary commission called to administer Anzio and Nettuno, dissolved due to criminal infiltration on 30 November 2022.

The decree, signed at the end of March but published in the Official Journal only recently, states that “the needs of the local community and the protection of primary interests require further intervention by the State, which ensures the restoration of democratic principles and of legality and restores efficiency and transparency to the administrative action of the institution”.

The act is also countersigned by the President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni and by the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, who had decreed the extension of another six months nduring the session of the Council of Ministers last March 26th. Now there is also the signature of the Head of State and therefore the decision is official and definitive.

This being the case, it is likely that we will go to the vote in the autumn, probably in November, barring a further extension of the commissioner’s management.
