‘Aesthetics of Trauma’ opens in L’Aquila

L’AQUILA – Wednesday 1 May, at 12, in the basement of the Palazzetto dei Nobili, ‘Aesthetics of Trauma’ will be inaugurated, a collective exhibition of young students from the Academies of L’Aquila, Naples and Sassari, curated by Monica Biancardi.

After the success of two years ago in Naples, the young artists from Abruzzo, Campania and this time also Sardinia, continue a creative work that addresses the theme of trauma expressed in various ways.

The curator entrusted this research to the photographic investigation of Federico Luciano, Beatrice De Meis, Federico De Sanctis, Andrea Marinucci, Maria Sara Crisponi, Marcus Usai & Carlo Schoeneberger, Chiara Podda, Ilena Ragosta, Giulia Romolo, Lorenzo Scimia, Francecsa Rinella, Francesca Chiola, Ferdinando Mazzitelli And Giovanna Capone who reflect on the meaning of “writing with light” in different ways and means.

“You don’t emerge unscathed from damage; whether he experienced it first hand or indirectly. The earthquake that devastated the city of L’Aquila, now more than fifteen years ago, is still present in the area today, whose inhabitants live in a reality made of cracks, from which a social fabric that is struggling to mend itself has been taken away. The desolation of the pandemic was followed by yet another conflict that added further physical and mental disorders, accompanied by climate change that offers no respite, causing irreparable environmental disasters. Eating that is disrespectful towards nature and animals puts reflection on the topic of sustainability at the centre. Missing autobiographical pieces, the filling of which is entrusted to the viewer, or flashback of a sexual minority provocatively exposing itself to researchof investigation…When trauma is not a sporadic event but is repeated over time and in different forms, it fuels a symptomatologically fragile society, shattered into a thousand pieces which in turn reflect echoes of light and sounds that propagate in space…”.
