Venice: Renzo Marzona. Invisible Bridges

Venice: Renzo Marzona. Invisible Bridges
Descriptive text here

After the success of “Signs of the Time“, the exhibition hosted by Arte Spazio Tempo, Renzo Marzona return to Venice with an exhibition of works on paper executed in the period 2020-2024, which embraces nostalgia and transforms it into a meditation on the present. Exploring a time span from the 1950s to the present day, Marzona creates works that tell a story of continuity and change.

The exhibition, curated by Francesca De Biasi and titled “Invisible Bridges“, focuses on a fundamental stage in the artist’s life: the reflection on childhood memories as opposed to the last four years of history. The collection is divided into 25 informal works. Using old recycled papers and cardboard, the artist creates a visual narrative that enhances obsolete materials, such as ancient accounting papers with handwritten writing, evoking a sense of fascination with the past.

Through his works, Marzona expresses a profound reflection on the stability and authenticity of the past, contrasted with the uncertainty and precariousness of the present. The colors used, with a more consistent mass at the top that gradually dissolves towards the bottom, symbolize the fragility of life and the fluidity of time.

Each work is untitled but full of meaning and opens a window onto a world that oscillates between innovation and nostalgia fueled by childhood memories, such as the swing where the artist spent long hours dreaming, the wood chips he played with and the traditional objects of Carnia dear to him. The landscape, recurring in many of the works, evokes memories of Morandi and invites the viewer to immerse themselves in an emotional journey through time and space.

In a Europe marked by tumultuous transformations, fragmented and tormented, Marzona’s exhibition offers a rare opportunity for reflection. Through 25 original works, the artist invites the public to explore the tensions between past and present, between stability and change, offering a unique perspective on a constantly evolving world where doors are open to infinite possibilities.
A gift of emotions, that of the artist, to all those who can no longer dream or smile and who need to intercept the world through other perspectives. read the rest of the article”

Biographical notes

Renzo Marzona was born in 1948 in Verzegnis, a tiny town in the province of Udine nestled in the mountains near a lake that takes its name. It is in this enchanted atmosphere that the artist grows and feels an integral part of that rocky world made up of tall pines, larches, birches and streams that fall creating resounding waterfalls. His world revolves around family: his grandfather’s carpentry shop, the music club, life in the woods.
He dedicated his youth to the study of music. Later, in his twenties, he approached painting and became passionate about it. He experiments in that period, he also builds a press to create etchings. He attends the evening engraving courses of the master Valentino De Nardo of Conegliano. He then enrolled at the international school of graphics in Venice as a student of Ricardo Licata and Rina Riva.
Thus began his career as an artist which, after more than fifty years, still sees him painting and experimenting every day. Always looking for new inspiration, Marzona continues his artistic project and dedicates it to humanity.
