My story in Perugia has come to an end. There are many people worth mentioning and thanking, but first of all I want to give a special round of applause to this TEAM. It would be difficult to list here all those I have had the opportunity to work with in these 6 seasons, but I have you all in my heart and memory and I want to thank you for everything.
Allow me to write just these names: Simone Giannelli, Gregor Ropret, Davide Candellaro, Flavio Gualberto, Roberto Russo, Sebastian Solé, Wassim Ben Tara, Jesus Herrera, Tim Held, Oleh Plotnytskyi, Kamil Semeniuk, Massimo Colaci, Alessandro Toscani. 13 great teammates, thanks to whom I achieved 4 gold medals this season. It has been an honor, a pleasure and a blessing to captain this incredible team and I hope I have served you well.
And you were not just my co-workers, you and your families are now friends of my family. Our wives/partners have bonded, your children have become my children’s best friends despite language differences and we have created our own little community in Perugia creating memories that will last forever. Dear Ladies players from Perugia, I want to pay tribute to you for always being with us and for creating a family environment wherever we played. You deserve to feel appreciated.
Every team needs its coach. I had the opportunity to work in Perugia with Lorenzo Bernardi, Vital Heynen, Nikola Grbic, Andrea Anastasi and Angelo Lorenzetti. I learned a lot from each of them. I developed as a player and as a person. Thanks for your guidance!
Last but not least, I want to thank the President for welcoming me. Thanks to the company managers and staff members of all past seasons. Thanks to all the sponsors and friends of Perugia volleyball.
We have come a long way together. I personally did everything I could to win as many trophies as possible. For some, 1 scudetto, 3 Italian Cups, 4 Super Cups, 2 club world championships may not be enough. But for me, it’s a lot. I am happy and fulfilled with what I achieved in Perugia.
