There is a majority crisis in the city council in Cuneo. It was opened by the councilors of the Centro per Cuneo group (the largest group in the coalition with seven representatives) who abandoned the city council meeting this evening, Monday 29 Aprildue to the “need for a majority verification” following the discussion between the coalition groups on the topic of the Crc Foundation.

The advisors of Center for Cuneo they communicated the decision to abandon the city council proceedings with a note distributed to the newspapers, but without intervening during the session, leaving the room while an interpellation was being discussed: “Today’s discussion between the coalition groups on the topic of the Crc Foundation has generated a situation that requires urgent majority verification. To avoid further misunderstandings, we await the convening of the majority coordination and we abandon the work of this city council”. The crux of contention is the appointments on the board of the Crc Foundation within the majority.

The minority councilors (Giancarlo Boselli, Giuseppe Lauria, Claudio Bongiovanni, Franco Civallero and Ugo Sturlese) pointed out the many absences in the majority during the session and when the Centro per Cuneo councilors left they immediately asked for the council’s work to be suspended. “We are in the presence of the opening of a political crisis, it is a very serious act” he said Giancarlo Boselliwho then read the Centro per Cuneo press release. Ugo Sturlese he added: “It is the opening of a crisis, in a serious moment for the city, in contemptuous terms towards all the councillors, something like this has never been seen.”

The session was suspended for a conference of group leaders and upon his return the prime minister, Marco Vernetti, verified the lack of a quorum, with the absence at this point of a good part of the minority (15 councilors present, the minimum number was 17): the session was declared deserted and was suspended and called for tomorrow, Tuesday 30 April, to verify the possibility of continuing the work and approving the resolutions on the agenda. However, Ugo Sturlese, one of the few councilors remaining in the room, underlined: “Under these conditions we will not participate in the continuation of the work: let it be clear that we are facing a real political crisis here.”

The group Center for Cuneo he is the most numerous in the majority with seven councilors: Vincenzo Pellegrino (group leader), Ettore Grosso, Silvano Enrici, Monica Pellegrino, Flavia Barbano, Maria Laura Risso and Serena Garelli.

The councilors of the group (Luca Serale, Valter Fantino, Luca Pellegrino and Cristina Clerico) remained in their places at the council table, but the crisis of the majority that supports the mayor, Patrizia Manassero, is open.
