Forty-two league goals in seven seasons with the yellow-blue shirt and a promotion from C1 to B, that of 1985/86, at the end of an exciting ride. Our editorial team interviewed one of the most representative players of the 80’s yellow and blue and double ex in view of Reggiana-Modena scheduled for Wednesday, here are the words of Mauro Rabitti.
PASSED BETWEEN GIALLOBLÙ AND GRANATA – “The period in Modena was very good, I scored many goals and we got a great promotion. The connection with the city was strong, I spent fantastic years. My adventure in Reggio was equally beautiful, I played in the Granata for four years on and off. I was born in Scandiano, but I played for several years in the gialloblù: it’s nice that these barriers are falling and players like Ballotta, Frutti, Catellani and Gozzi have been able to become important in a “rival” team compared to their city”.
THE PRESENT OF MODENA – “I saw a team that started very well at the beginning, accustoming the team to results that perhaps went above the true values of the squad. Serie B is exhausting and sooner or later it will ask you the price. In my opinion, a goal-scoring striker has been missing, the change of pace that is needed. Bisoli? Right man because of his mentality and his game. At times Modena conceded too many goals, the new coach is working very well. Rivetti family? If there is one thing Modena should boast of, it is the presidency. Both from a human and economic point of view I have experienced it first hand and the Rivetti do not waste words but do deeds”.
DERBY ON WEDNESDAY – “I expect an attentive match from both teams, both of them have to save themselves and therefore they will play a game of great concentration: I think a draw will suit both very well. I wish salvation to both places. I want to give a round of applause to the two fans for the affection they show the team every day and good luck. I hope it will be a good sporting spectacle and I pray that there are no incidents of violence: warm support, but with respect.”
