Captain Hook’s rock comes to our aid to tell you about one of the most picturesque events of our Tuscany capable of juggling castles, the Middle Ages, historical re-enactments, food and wine festivals, the sea and… pirates. Yes, you understood correctly. Ready to disembark?
In one of the most beautiful villages in Italy such as Porto Ercole, overlooking the Argentario sea, the “Pirate Night” is held on the first weekend of May. From 6.00pm, when the sun begins to set, the night arrives bringing the gift of a world that once was and that we usually relive through books, comics, films: the fantastic universe linked to Pirates, to looting and taverns, to the treasures of the abyss and the galleons.
Are you passionate about this fascinating narrative? Then mark the date: Saturday 4 May the Pirate Night of Porto Ercole returns which will transform the town into a folkloristic One Piece scenario. A transformation that will involve the seafront and its characteristic beaches, and above all bars, restaurants, clubs and… people.
Who will come to Porto Ercole on this occasion you will have the impression of entering taverns and inns-pirate dens, or of walking through the streets of a port during one of those assaults and lootings that took place here in ancient centuries and which the festival wants to recall. It starts with the parade through the streets of the town to the sound of flags, songs and cannon shots fired into the air (fake, of course) to then arrive on the seafront where the crews board the “guzzi”, the typical local boats and begin the assault or an unprecedented treasure hunt in search of the key that will allow you to open the chest. What does it contain? 10 gold-covered silver coins, the treasure of the pirates of Porto Ercole.
In a super suggestive red cloud of smoke bombs, the scenery you will enjoy from the pier will not disappoint you and it will really seem, for a few seconds, that you are living in the Caribbean of the 1500s.
The program
- 6.30pm: Gathering of the crews in Piazza Amerigo Vespucciparking at the beginning of the town

7.00 pm: Start of the parade that after walking Viale Caravaggiowill unfold throughout the Andrea Doria seafront until the Pirate’s Cove where it will melt

8.15pm: Starting from the beaches the pirates compete in one crazy rowingwithout holds barred, to conquer the flag on the water

8.45pm: Cannon shots, smoke screen, shots, screams, the BARBAROSSA sailing ship like a ghost he emerges from the fog followed by the Pirate crews who land on the beaches

9.00 pm: THE Sub Pirates they emerge from the sea and surround the crews with a ring of fire

9.15pm: The unique, inimitable, spectacular FIREWORKS de Pirate Night
