Legality Day in Pomezia: event dedicated to the memory of the Capaci massacre

The Municipality of Pomezia, in collaboration with the Quarto Savona Diecici Association and the National Association of Police Forces, has organized a special day dedicated to legality and the memory of the Capaci massacre on Tuesday 23 April. The initiative, called “100% LEGALITY – FIGHT AGAINST CRIME”includes various activities and moments of reflection to raise awareness among citizens of the importance of combating organized crime.

Exhibition of the “Quarto Savona Diecici” display case in Pomezia

The centerpiece of the event will be the display of the named case “Quarter Savona Fifteen”which contains the remains of the escort car of judge Giovanni Falcone, victim of the Capaci attack which occurred on 23 May 1992. This symbolic shrine is traveling around Italy to pay homage to the victims of the mafia and underline the need to fight the ‘illegality in all its forms.

The shrine will arrive specifically in Pomezia to be displayed to the public and commemorate not only the sacrifice of Falcone and the other victims of Capaci, but also of all the people affected by the criminal action of the mafia organizations in our country.

Student participation and event program

The day will see the active participation of students from the schools of Pomezia and Torvajanica, who will kick off the celebrations with a procession through the streets of the city centre. Furthermore, the exhibition will be set up at the Civic Tower in Piazza Indipendenza “The faces of Legality”the result of the work of the students of the Liceo Picasso of Pomezia.

The program also includes a series of institutional and commemorative interventions, including greetings from the Mayor of Pomezia, Veronica Felici, and Tina Montinaro, President of the Quarto Savona Diecici Association. Personalities such as the Hon. will also be present. Wanda Ferro, Sen. Marco Silvestroni, the Police Commissioner of Rome Carmine Belfiore, the Prosecutor of Velletri Giancarlo Amato, the President of the Bar Association of Velletri Stefano Armati and the Secretary of the ANFP Enzo Marco Letizia.

The day will end with the unveiling of the plaque in memory of Giovanni Falcone, Francesca Morvillo, Antonio Montinaro, Rocco Dicillo and Vito Schifani, followed by the blessing of the bishop of Albano, Mons. Vincenzo Viva. The “Quarto Savona Diecici” display case will then be accessible to the public in Piazza Indipendenza throughout the day.
