The Ass. NIKE debuts in Rome: ABARC’s Tecno-Bazar is born
Descriptive text here

Born from the awareness of promoting inter-associative citizen dialogue and supporting opportunities for cultural, social and educational development, the NIKE Association is committed to creating a dynamic space in which associations, cultural operators, organizations and institutions can discuss and collaborate, each optimizing their skills and specificities by looking beyond. It is no coincidence that the NIKE association’s activity began with support for the project Techno-Bazaar.

The new work, born from a group of students trained at the Academy of Fine Arts of Reggio Calabria, was born when – last year – the creators of Spazio Taverna, Ludovico Pratesi and Marco Bassan, were in the city to hold a workshop aimed at creating a usable concrete work. Among the users there was also Irene Calabròwho today in his new role as President of the NIKE Association, has decided to support and embrace this new cultural climax, thus accompanying the efforts and dreams of a group of students, who united in the ABARC Collective, relaunching the project by creating a double event between Rome and Reggio Calabria.

The first stage takes place today, April 29, 2024, in the rooms of the historic residence of Orsini Palace in Rome. An operation that shows the possibility of creating new synergies between institutions, bodies, associations and professionals who together can build processes for the valorization of the cultural capital of the Strait. The associative aims of NIKE are based, in this case, on the commitment that the Academy of Fine Arts of Reggio Calabria, led by Director Piero Sacchetti, has been carrying out in recent years, increasingly becoming a creative hub in which to let development new cultural projects, which can then find their own independent development, such as the Techno-Bazar of ABARC Collective.

The Collective’s research focuses on building a portrait of society through the staging of its financial rituals, thus redefining an imaginative approach to the economic world of the 21st century. The approach is conducted through the aid of processes and performative dynamics including: experience, environment, relationship.

Tecno-Bazar is born

To this end Tecno-Bazar is born, under the supervision of the curators Marcello Francolini and Remo Malice, a place more than a space, capable of condensing several phantasmagoric Mediterranean imaginaries: from the orientalism of Etienne Delacroix and Domenico Morelli to the local-markets-as-bazaars from Vucciria to Fuorigrotta to recreate a concrete imaginary “place”. The group is made up of the following members: Andrea Albanese, Melania Barbera, Riccardo Forte, Arianna Marina, Valentina Romeo, Marco Scarcella, Antonio Zappone, Dario Zema.
