“Green, safe and lively city”

Rome, 29 April. (Adnkronos) – A green Perugia, safe, for everyone, contemporary and even more alive. This is what mayoral candidate Margherita Scoccia spoke about this morning when illustrating the program of the centre-right and civic coalition in view of the elections on 8 and 9 June. The program, characterized by five key words, is made up of 23 themes and 150 actions to be implemented through projects, ideas and proposals, it was said at the headquarters of the electoral committee “The future does not stop”, in the interest of the city. The mayoral candidate spoke about the creation of energy communities useful for making Perugia more sustainable, as well as the development of the Sidewalk Plan which aims to unite neighborhoods to encourage citizens to walk more and use cars less. “The Calls Office created in the Municipality will be implemented to intercept other external funding – said Scoccia referring to the concept of economic sustainability – while the large urban regeneration projects to be carried out with the Pnrr funds will be implemented.

In all of this, economic operators who will base their actions on principles of sustainability, therefore the containment of food waste, and companies who will encourage the use of public transport by their employees and customers will be rewarded”. Among the first points of the program is the Urban Decoration Plan: “We will invest in a ten-year plan of 100 million euros for roads, greenery and street furniture – explained Margherita Scoccia – We will continue in a decisive manner with the redevelopment and in the safety of the schools of Perugia by planning maintenance interventions also in gyms and swimming pools of the Municipality, clubs and CVA, works that aim to ensure that we have more efficient, less polluting structures and capable of consuming less energy”. As regards the safety of the neighbourhoods, Scoccia guarantees more cameras and “maximum collaboration with the police for an even stronger operational synergy”.

“Dialogue with the people of Perugia is a central theme of our project which will always keep people at the centre”, guarantees Scoccia. On the health front, the program envisages “strengthening the network of mayors to exercise stimulus and control actions on health policies”. “We will encourage companies from outside the city to choose Perugia as the headquarters of their activities – she explained – by implementing policies capable of encouraging public transport first and foremost through the complete implementation of the PUMS”.

From one theme to another, as far as the social aspect is concerned, the project aims to promote forms of independent living also dedicated to vulnerable subjects and microcredit for women victims of gender violence. “For our city we want a new master plan – says Scoccia – The current one dates back to 2002, the next one will have to contain more flexible rules and without land consumption for a city that has changed profoundly compared to 22 years ago. Beauty must be everyone’s right – he continues – the redesigns of Ponte San Giovanni, Fontivegge, San Sisto and San Marco but also of other neighbourhoods, hamlets and villages go in the direction of improving the places in which we live and work, including those that they represent our history such as the Rocca Paolina”.

“Young people, culture, sport and tourism are topics that are part of the city’s future vision. The program envisages involving and introducing NEETs to work – it has been said – as well as the extension of full time to schools to meet the needs of parents who, for their children, may decide to make use of the use of school gyms for afternoon sporting activities”. University? “We will promote housing policies that can encourage student enrolment.”
