doubts about the motive for the Padua murder

The motive for Saturday’s murder in Villafranca Padovana, where 31-year-old Micheal Boschetto was found dead, has not yet been clarified. A neighbor of almost the same age as the victim has been arrested for murder: he is in prison awaiting his interrogation.

Investigations continue into the death of Michael Boschetto, killed in the courtyard of his home in Villafranca Padovana (Padua) in the early hours of last Saturday. Giacomo Friso, the victim’s neighbor, was arrested for the crime already on Saturday. Victim and alleged murderer, according to what emerged, had known each other for many years – since they were children – and Friso would have made some partial admissions after the arrest.

The desire for a confrontation between the two could have led to the argument that resulted in murder at dawn on Saturday in Villafranca Padovana. But the motive still remains to be clarified. What is known is that Friso has drug addiction problems and that he had recently left a recovery community: in the days before the crime, when he returned to the village, things had gotten even worse according to the stories of some residents.

“He has always had his problems, but it had never been like in this period” he said for example to Gazzettino Friso’s uncle, who together with his wife and son have always been his only relatives. A local person had been attacked by the young man in the night between last Wednesday and Thursday, then on Friday Friso himself had also had problems in a bar in the town. Those who met him in the days preceding the crime reported that the 34-year-old was in such an agitated situation that he asked anyone he passed to accompany him to buy drugs.

It is therefore not excluded that on Saturday morning Friso – who apparently went to knock on Boschetto’s house at the crack of dawn and woke him up – asked the victim to help him recover the substance. The 31-year-old’s possible refusal could have led to the quarrel and the tragic epilogue. But these are only hypotheses. Now Friso is in prison, accused of murder, awaiting his interrogation.
