Photography, writing of light, can become a “bridge” between reality and fantasy, imagination. It can offer us singular narratives. And certainly “Donna è…” has this extraordinary peculiarity. A photographic competition of great value and notable merit. The preliminary, organizational phase has recently concluded. And soon, to be precise on Sunday 12 May (at 6pm), the awards ceremony and exhibition of the shots will take place at Palazzo Moncada.

An enormous level initiative, organized by the Rotary Club of Caltanissetta, had its supporting “pillar” in Liria Zaffuto. The entrepreneur from Serradifalco, former artistic director of Radio Rcs Sicilia, took care of and planned everything.

The Rotary Club of Caltanissetta, led by Giuseppe Sagone, received numerous shots: nine participants – a short note clarifies – between professionals and amateurs, 46 shots received from all over Italy, but also from Belgium and South America.

The jury of the photography competition was made up of photographic art lovers Valerio Cimino and Michele Lupo. And again: from professional photographers Ettore Maria Garozzo and Lillo Micciché. We are, therefore, in the final phase and the names of the winners will be announced.

Liria Zaffuto comments: “The competition was conceived to enhance the role of women. Our aim was to represent women in all their nuances.”

The exhibition will be open and accessible, free of charge, from 12 to 19 May. The entrance times, as per the poster, will be: from Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 1 pm and in the afternoon from 5 pm to 8 pm. On Saturday, however, it will be from 10 am to 1 pm (morning slot) and in the afternoon always from 5pm to 8pm.

A cultural event not to be missed, therefore. It is scheduled for Sunday 12 May at Palazzo Moncada (with the patronage of the municipal administration and the Pro Loco of Caltanissetta). The awards ceremony and inauguration of the photographic exhibition will take place. For a week, until May 19th, it will be available.
