The staff of the Monte Falco Alpine Rescue station concluded in the late evening of Sunday 28 April 2024 an intervention to help two young hikers from Cesena who found themselves in difficulty in a particularly impervious area after having lost the path. The event happened in the municipality of Bagno di Romagna: the two 25-year-olds, after arriving at the Nasseto refuge, continued the itinerary to complete the circular tour through Castel D’Alpe and then returned to Gualchiere, where they had left their car. However, along the downhill path they lost the main path, deceived by fake trail tracks created by wild animals, and found themselves in a particularly inaccessible area. Scared and not knowing how to get back to the main path, they called 118 who activated the Emilia Romagna Alpine and Speleological Rescue. Once the exact point where the young people were located was identified, a team from the Monte Falco station left and arrived on site. The return was long and difficult as it was necessary to use ropes to secure some particularly steep sections. The event ended shortly after 11pm: the two were accompanied back to their cars in good health.
