THE EAGLE. The closing of the 78th season of the Società Aquilana dei Concerti “Barattelli” is entrusted to one of the most internationally famous Italian drummers, percussionists and jazz composers: Roberto Gatto. Today at the Parco auditorium in L’Aquila, at 6pm, Gatto performs with his Quartet formed together with Alessandro Presti on trumpet, Alessandro Lanzoni on piano, Matteo Bortone on double bass. Gatto has a special relationship with the city of L’Aquila, made up of personal affections, professional commitments, including as a jazz drum teacher at the “Casella” conservatory, artistic ties which over the years have often seen him in concert with original projects and together with others jazz artists and beyond, both in the Barattelli seasons and in jam sessions in various venues. On this occasion he presents the live performance of the quartet’s latest album My Secret Place: original compositions written by all the members of the group and reinterpretations of music from different repertoires, not necessarily from jazz. «One of the best songs is certainly Everyday Life by Coldplay», explains Gatto, «which I used to introduce the voice of Beatrice, my daughter. Then there is an instrumental version of the song written by Luis Bacalov and sung by Gianni Morandi, Se non had plus te, an authentic masterpiece of the 60s. The only standard present is “The Meaning Of The Blues”».
