Tacchini: “We need a total overhaul of Cremona 20-30”

“The political battle over the biomethane plant is not a rearguard battle between football teams. Reducing the discussion in this way is demeaning and it diminishes the meaning of words, the role of mayoral candidates and the role of institutions“. This was stated by Paola Tacchini, candidate for Mayor of the 5 Star Movement and Cremona Cambia Musica, following the statements of Andrea Virgilio after the press conference of Forza Italia and Portesani, against the plant proposed by A2A on the border with Gerre de Caprioli.

“The San Rocco sector – states Tacchini – and the entire Cremona area need a vision, a project, a municipal and territorial energy plan that takes into account: the energy transition, the decarbonisation of the economy, the health of citizens and of the fact that, like it or not, agriculture and animal husbandry in the coming years will necessarily have to undergo a radical change, starting from the reduction in the numbers of animals raised and the consequent reduction of wastewater.

“So the process must be undertaken total review of the Cremona 20-30 plan, at the time developed by a “steering committee” behind closed doors, with an autonomous vision and not accompanying or dependent on the choices of a multi-utility.
It is difficult to go further in commenting on the “company manifesto” of the candidate Virgilio. A manifesto full of slogans, simplifications that resemble “fake news”.

“Virgil starts from a dogma, namely that biomethane is a tool that generates clean energy. It’s a shame that Virgil forgot to mention theenergy return index, which is negative in many cases of bioenergy plants in real life and which in any case benefit from incentives.
These systems are energy-intensive and non-energy-intensive systems. Nothing is said about the cumulative impacts, nothing about the odorous ones and the impacts of the disposal, as nothing about the water footprint”.

For Tacchini, “the next municipal administration will have to listen, collaborate with associations, committees and movements to create a truly eco-sustainable economy. First real politics, electoral programs consistent with ideas, sustainable projects, shared energy plans, not electoral slogans”.
