Bonelli and Fratoianni have decided to play all their chips for the European elections on Ilaria Salis. The antifa teacher, detained in Budapest prison on charges of having participated in the beating of two neo-Nazis, will be candidate throughout Italy to bring votes to the red-green rassemblemant and allow him to exceed 4%. By doing so, if she were the most voted, she would obtain a seat that would allow her to enjoy parliamentary immunity.
Alessandra Ghisleri, director of the polling institute Euromedia Research, tested the pulse of Italians on the matter. The 60% of those interviewed reject the movea of Alleanza Verdi Sinistra since it is seen as an attempt to ride the media wave in a desperate attempt to overcome the barrier threshold. When asked about the approval of Ilaria Salis’ candidacy, 58.7% of Italians respond with a firm no; only 20.3% agree. The percentages more negative ones arrive among center-right voters: 84.5% from Fratelli d’Italia voters, 82.7% from Forza Italia and 66% from the League. Even among the ranks of Action the opinion is very harsh, with 72.5% against.

Also there the left appears very divided on the topic. In the PD there is an important segment of voters who do not agree with Salis’s entry into the field: i no beats yes 42.3% to 40.7%. In the 5 Star Movement the opinions are slightly reversed: Il 36.1% approve the candidacy, while the 35.1% are against. In short, if there are many doubts on the left too, the first alarm bells are starting to ring for Bonelli and Fratoianni.
