For the Campania Region an important challenge in view of the summer season: to process the tender for the assignment of the forest firefighting service with helicopters which was deserted. No company responded, forcing the regional administration to find other solutions. The 6.2 million euro tender included the rental of eight helicopters for reconnaissance and fire extinguishing operations.
Other solutions
Although financial coverage was guaranteed, no company submitted offers by the April 14 deadline. Now, the Civil Protection of Campania must quickly find alternatives to guarantee the presence of helicopters during the summer season, which are fundamental in the prevention and management of regional forest fires.
