Playing with metaphor, one could say that in view of the vote at the Municipality on 8 and 9 June they warmed up the engines. Or who, awaiting a presumably fiery electoral campaign, carried out a reconnaissance tour. Certainly, the three mayoral candidates who will compete in Bari to succeed Antonio Decaro, on a warm morning on Sunday 28 April, they found a way to challenge each other on new terrain. That of Formula 1vintage though.
The event organized by the Old Cars Club
Vito Leccese (designated by the Democratic Party and about ten lists), Michele Laforgia (the lawyer chosen by M5S, SI and Convention for Bari) e Fabio Romito (indicated jointly by FdI, Lega and Forza Italia), without failing to greet each other with cordial tones, they participated in the historical reenactment of the Grand Prix which took place in Bari from 1947 to 1956 and which saw among its protagonists absolute champions ofmotoring, from Achille Varzi to Juan Manuel Fangiofrom Pietro Taruffi to Alfonso de Portago. The event which runs along the main city streets is organized every two years byOld Cars Clubwhich on this occasion at the traditional Saturday afternoon parade on Corso Vittorio Emanuele and to the re-proposal of GP on the seafront with the old ones Ferrari or Alfa Romeo single-seaters added three special guests.

The looks with which the mayoral candidates left their electoral committees to present themselves at the meeting were significantly different Paddock in Piazza Libertà. Vito Leccese contrasted the very white Laforgia shirt half-covered by a blue jacket with a teal cotton crew-neck sweater and Fabio Romito with a brown jacket that looked very sporty. Everyone then sat in the cars next to the drivers – the most famous of the company Riccardo Patrese – to retrace the route on which the race took place in Bari and which embraced the perimeter of the historic centre. There was no lack of fun and funny jokes among the three, in particular when the impeccable Laforgia climbed onto the Mga 1006 displacement owned by Pino Mazzone. Having left the Formula 1 of the past, and returned to the current electoral situation, the climate will certainly become less British.
