Parma Baseball hat-trick on the Grosseto pitch

Parma Clima started their journey in Group A of the championship on the right foot, obtaining a hat-trick on the pitch of BBC Grosseto.

Last night Marcello Saccardi’s boys prevailed with an eloquent 10 to 3, the result of twelve valid serves and a good performance from the pitcher Figueredo. The ducals left their mark on the match right from the start thanks to the serves of Luis Gonzalez (3 out of 5) and Stefano Desimoni (2 out of 4 with a triple). Extrabase hits also for Mineo and Noel Gonzalez.

The news

In Parma Clima, manager Saccardi fielded Lorenzo Scerrato for the first time who took Astorri’s place in the role of designated hitter and in the seventh position of the line-up. For the rest, the ducals showed up on the field with the same formation as in the afternoon match, entrusting the pitching mound to the Cuban debutant Raymond Figueredo. Oberto also chose a pitcher from Cuba for the mound and put the first ball in the hands of Jonathan Carbo. The Maremma manager made some changes in defense and in the batting order. Niccolò Biscontri positioned himself in the catcher’s box with Garcia at first base and Martini designated. Chelli defended the outfield in right with Francesco Vaglio lined up at second base replacing Freddy Noguera to meet the minimum number of Italian-trained players.

Parma Clima wasted no time and started with their foot firmly on the accelerator. Luis Gonzalez hit a single to left and was pushed all the way to home plate by Mineo’s opposite-field double. Encarnacion made it 2-0 with a precise single to the right. The Ducali extended their lead to 5-0 in the first part of the second half by taking advantage of a base ball snatched by Scerrato, three hits by Desimoni, Angioi and Luis Gonzalez and two errors by the home fielders which gave the Parma runners precious advances on the bases. The robust advantage gave Figueredo the opportunity to work with serenity. At the change of fields, however, the Cuban pitcher conceded a point to the red and whites without conceding hits: Martini received four balls and took advantage of an infield hit by Garcia and two wild throws to complete the round of the bases.

Parma Clima immediately re-established the distance with a base ball to Ascanio and the subsequent triple by Desimoni which induced the home bench to replace Carbo (2.2rl, 6p, 5pgl, 7bvc, 2bb, 3k) with compatriot Penalver, well done to wet the dust of the Emilians by also finishing the fourth and fifth rounds without damage.
The first hits from Grosseto, two consecutive singles by Martini and Garcia, arrived in the second part of the fourth quarter but Encarnacion avoided trouble with two excellent defensive plays. On the other hand, Figueredo put in a solid performance and managed to maintain his five-point lead despite conceding a double to Tomsjansen in the second part of the fifth round. The match entered the last two rounds with Parma Clima leading 6 to 1. After suffering from Penalver’s throws, the ducali resumed beating against Paolo Taschini, already used in the afternoon match. Noel Gonzalez pushed the seventh run to home plate with a double between center fielder and right fielder, then Taschini filled the cushions with two base balls awarded to Mineo and Encarnacion. Oberto tried to mix things up with Antonio Noguera’s entry into the game but Ascanio pounced on the left-handed reliever’s first pitch to get a two-run single.
At 9 to 1 the game had no more history. Figueredo (5rl, 1pgl, 3bvc, 3bb, 3k) left the last two shots to Perez and Santana while hits from Flisi, Luis Gonzalez and Astorri set the final at 10 to 3.

Next week the home debut with a triptych against Bologna.
