The 30-year-old from Messina was arrested by the Carabinieri of the Messina Giostra station on charges of possession for the purpose of dealing narcotic substances and was serving his sentence under house arrest for crimes against property. It all happened on the afternoon of April 26 when the military personnel, while carrying out periodic checks on the subjects under house arrest, noticed a person, already known to the police, leaving the 30-year-old’s home. The individual was immediately stopped and, subjected to a personal search, found in possession of a dose of crack, probably purchased shortly before by the individual subjected to house arrest.
As a result of the house search, the police found a sophisticated video surveillance system presumably used by the 30-year-old to evade checks by the police during the probable drug dealing activity, a theory supported by the intense coming and going of people, ascertained in the vicinity of the arrested person’s home.
On the basis of the investigative elements acquired, the Carabinieri therefore proceeded to arrest the 30-year-old in flagrante delicto and, having completed the formalities, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, they confined him to the Messina Gazzi prison. The subject found with the dose of crack was instead reported to the Prefecture of Messina as a drug user.
