Castiglione del Lago: the Court of Auditors challenges Mayor Burico
The Fratelli d’Italia and Lega Castiglione del Lago groups– Systematic delays in approving accounts beyond the legal deadlines, incorrect accounting of the deficit, failure to indicate the deficit in the balance sheets, failure to collect debts. These are the main criticisms that the Court of Auditors with sentence n.2/2024 contested against Burico & Co. (…read comrades…).
What was denounced several times by the Brothers of Italy and the League in all the sessions of the City Council was finally certified by the Court of Auditors. The Mayor’s accusations of fake news regarding the actions of the opposition melt miserably like snow in the sun.
And here is what the five-year term of the Duca-Burico Council gives us: a deficit of €2,556,432.44 (yes, read carefully, over two and a half million in debt) which citizens will have to repay for the next 22 years in installments of 168,000 ,00 per year! The organisation’s overall debt has been constantly growing over the five-year Duca-Burico period and has reached €16,066,781.37, i.e. equal to over 1,000 euros per inhabitant. Just think, every new citizen of Castiglione del Lago is born already owing over a thousand euros to Mayor Burico to repay his debts!
In addition, the 13% increases arranged by AURI on garbage tariffs for the two-year period 2024-2026 and passively accepted by the Municipality with the utmost confidentiality hoping not to have consequences on the elections next June. Even postponing the approval of the expected item on the Council’s agenda by explicitly admitting, Councilor Duca, “[…] understand us, it is human not to approve increases close to elections […]”
We will have an 8% increase in the TARI this year and 5% next year, values that will be precisely defined by next 30 June (once the elections have taken place…coincidentally!) when the amount of the recovery of the TARI arrears from the 2017 onwards that the Duca-Burico Council with the support of Councilor Bacci have started a few months ago.
So all the merits of separate waste collection touted by Duca won’t bring any benefits?
When will the much vaunted punctual tariff for every citizen arrive?
An unbeatable council in organizing ceremonies, parties and granting patronage to events, in five years countless resolutions and money on the topic. But on reducing the excessively high tax pressure and on giving substance to the needs of businesses and families, Duca Burico and Co. have not succeeded!
