PESCARA. At the Fratelli d’Italia party, which opened yesterday in the 2,750 square meter village on the free beach of La Nave di Cascella, the presence of Giorgia Meloni even if the President of the Council of Ministers will only arrive tomorrow at 11.45 am. And from the stage of the Pescara convention, with the sea behind her, Meloni is ready to announce her candidacy in the European elections on 8 and 9 June: in the city there are already posters on the walls and LED walls have sprung up on newsstands: ” With Giorgia, Italy changes Europe”, says the slogan placed on the smiling face of the prime minister. But in the 5 tensile structures – which ended up in the center of two exposed areas, one of Maurizio Acerbo of Rifondazione Comunista and the other of the civic list Radici in Comune and of Alleanza Verdi and Sinistra Italiana – no one confirms: «Giorgia Meloni is the leader of our party», says the Minister of Agricultural Policies Francesco Lollobrigida, «as well as the first woman who managed to allow our nation to modernize, demonstrating its value. Having a woman, I hope, like her at the helm of our list throughout Italy will also allow us to confirm the great trust that Italians have in her.” Even the MP Giovanni Donzelli, Head of Organization of FdI, preaches confidentiality: «We are all curious, we are all waiting with interest what he will decide, but we don’t know yet». But then Donzelli also says: «All Italians believe in Giorgia Meloni and have faith in her».
The third programmatic conference of FdI, which arrived in Pescara after Turin and Milan, shows the numbers: 135 speakers, including 15 ministers, 2,200 delegates and more than 150 National Youth volunteers. The big national and Abruzzo party figures in the room: a party with selfies for Facebook and Instagram, kisses and hugs like the threesome with the regional councilors Massimo Verrecchia, Paolo Gatti And Nicola Campitelli.
Among the first to intervene was the deputy from Pescara Guerino Testa who plays at home and collects chants and applause: «I am sincerely thrilled and honored that FdI has chosen Pescara. Giorgia Meloni chose our Abruzzo because an epochal event happened here: Marcus Marsilio won the regional elections for the second time. If in 5 years Marsilio brought Abruzzo out of provincialism, in 18 months Meloni brought Italy back to the center of the European assembly. Thus the center-right will govern for a long time to come while the center-left will be in grim opposition.” And Marsilio says: «These three days will be useful in laying the foundations for ideas that will not only change Italy but the whole of Europe. We will export the Italian model to the EU.” «Abruzzo was the graveyard of the campo largo», attacks the senator Etel Sigismondi, regional coordinator who talks about the complaints about the village for the occupation of the beach and the denied view of the sea: «The left did not want this initiative to take place in Pescara, because they who fill their mouths so much with democracy want to gag who doesn’t think like them.” And then he goes into detail: «It is a structure simply resting on the beach, defined by some exponents of the center-left as an “ecommonster”, but in reality it is a light structure, made with sustainable materials, which will be dismantled after Sunday». Mayor Carlo Masci (Forza Italia) points to the sea from the window and says: «Welcome to Pescara, look at the spectacle: we have the Blue Flag sea in the center of the city and it is the fruit of 5 years of the centre-right. And now we want another great victory.”
The Minister for Relations with Parliament closes, Luca Ciriani: «In Europe we will win with the power of ideas and by continuing to think big. We have changed Italy, we will also change Europe.”
