FOGGIA – Vladimir Luxuria, 58 years old, will be the new artistic director of the «Umberto Giordano» theater in Foggia, the oldest in Puglia. The task was given live by the mayor Maria Aida Episcopo right on the stage of the municipal theater at the conclusion of the “Princesa” show set up for the theater season.
Moved and at the same time probably surprised by the choice of location, Vladimir Luxuria accepted the assignment also because she was encouraged to do so by the public present at the «Giordano».
«We wanted to pay homage and above all thank one of the dearest daughters of our city. For the love that she has always shown, despite the wounds of childhood and adolescence, and for her being part of our community, in her city, which does not want to exclude anyone or anything”, said Mayor Episcopo, specifying that the role of artistic director of Giordano is for the next 2024/25 season and that the path will be defined in detail and communicated in the coming weeks.
Born in Foggia 58 years ago, Luxuria, former parliamentarian of the Rifondazione and LGBTQIA+ activist, writer, actress and television personality, currently hosts The red and the black on Radiouno together with Francesco Storace e The Island of the famousa program she won and was sent to.
Maria Aida Episcopo’s electoral campaign opened with a conversation on the future of Foggia last September 10th, in a preview of the Festa de L’Unità. «I want to give my contribution, however small or large, so that people really feel proud of being from Foggia», Luxuria said then. The last artistic director of the Giordano theater in Foggia was the actor and director Michele Placido, also a son of the Foggia area.
