First half report

Once the first 5 minutes have passed, both teams continue to study their opponent. In the first part of the match there are few opportunities while in the middle of the pitch many physical conflicts arise for possession of the ball. There were also many technical errors, both by Bologna and by the home team.

In the 18th minute a forced substitution for Sassuolo who replaced the injured Vedovati with Minta: the former felt a strong pain in his shoulder after a tackle with Diop shortly before.

The first ring of the match arrives towards the middle of the first half (25′) with the advantage goal for the neroverdi: after a nice cross from the left, the attacker Russo breaks away alone in the middle of the rossoblù area and beats Bagnolini on his first shot on goal.

At Bologna though 30 seconds were enough to immediately regain the equalizer, managing to score the 1-1 in the directly following action. The goal came from a low, cutting cross from Nezirevic which the opposing goalkeeper came out badly, leaving the ball loose in the small area. Ebone then takes advantage of the situation and comfortably hits the goal from a few steps away.

Incredibly, a few actions after the equalizer the rossoblù managed to complete the comeback and to take the lead around 29′ with Ravaglioli. The attacker from Bologna wonderfully stops Rosetti’s excellent long throw, and then throws the ball into the goal, beating Theiner.

Less than ten minutes before half-time the referee blows his whistle a penalty kick for the hosts after a foul by Rosetti on Russo: the same number 9 neroverde makes no mistake from the spot and brings the result back to a draw, scoring the 2-2 goal. The match becomes increasingly “crazy” and in the 41st minute another counter-overtake arrives, with Sassuolo making the most of a free kick from the attacking midfield to cross in the middle of the Bologna area and find, once again, the head by Russo, again too free to break away. The hat-trick from the Sassuolo striker nails the result at 3-2.

Thus the first half of the game ended with the home team in the lead: after a fairly poor start with chances, the match exploded around the twenty-fifth minute so much so that 5 goals were recorded in less than 20 minutes.

Second half report

The second half opens with a great curling shot by Bruno, who sends the ball just wide with his left foot. The beginning of the second half is also quite emotionless, while contrasts abound.

In the 62nd minute Magnani made the first substitution for the rossoblù: Diop came out, in pain after a blow, and Tonin came on in his place. Another round of substitutions for both teams in the 71st minute: Knezovic comes out for the hosts and Pigati comes in, while Bologna changes Ebone and Hodzic to insert Mangiameli and Tordiglione.

The Bolognese try to push in these minutes in search of an equalizer, but they struggle to find openings in the Neroverde defense. In the 82nd minute, after a bad ball lost by Amey in the middle of the pitch, Sassuolo wasted the opportunity to close out the match, with Cinquegrano sending the ball high over the crossbar.

In the 86th minute Byar takes center stage with an excellent initiative near the back line, beating an opponent with an excellent flick. However, his cross into the middle was intercepted by the Sassuolo defence.

In the 89th minute, a triple change for the neroverdi: Russo, Bruno and Falasca out for Parlato, Baldari and Cardascio.

In the final minutes there are no other opportunities, with the match therefore ending 3-2 for Sassuolo.
