April 25, the right unleashes censorship of Bella Ciao and takes it out on the Anpi

The party flags, the anti-fascism banner, the choir singing Bella Ciao and even the speech of the Anpi representative from the institutional stage on 25 April in Cinisello Balsamo. All things that have always been part of the set of ceremonies for the Liberation but which have annoyed the right. So much so that, a few hours after the celebrations, the majority groups took pen and paper to issue a note against the opposition, protesting against the so-called politicization of April 25th.

“During the celebrations of April 25, the holiday that commemorates a focal moment in our history linked to freedom and sacrifice, we listened with regret to the speech of the provincial ANPI delegate, whose words seemed out of place and not acceptable,” he says the statement which however does not end here.

“His speech focused on current, biased political issues, an intervention that deliberately overlooked the true meaning of the event. Furthermore, the party flags present in Piazza Gramsci, including those of the PD, contributed to creating a political division contrary to the spirit of unity that the day should embody”.

Accusations that the center-left sends back to the sender with a counter-statement signed by the entire opposition, PD in the lead, with sarcastic tones: “We express our solidarity with the mayor, the deputy mayor and the councilors present in Piazza Gramsci for the evident embarrassment and suffering caused to them by the presence of the centre-left parties and lists, even with the flags, “guilty” of having marched with the banner “Whoever loves Cinisello Balsamo loves its history: always resistance”, due to the excellent intervention of the provincial representative of ‘ANPI which did not stop at a few phrases of circumstance but connected April 25th to the critical issues of the present and for the choral of Bella Ciao, the international anthem of those who fight against tyrannies, sung by the entire Piazza Gramsci”, says the note.

“We also congratulate the right-wing parties and lists who, with a single statement, managed to ridicule themselves, demonstrating a certain difficulty in understanding the politics and history of our country. Irony aside, the real shame lies in a minimalist program for April 25th, where only a couple of patronages can be seen but where the Ghilardi council “forgets” about the 80th anniversary of the strikes of 1944, when hundreds of citizens of Northern Milan, including many people from Ciniselle, they were deported for striking against the fascist regime and the Nazi occupiers. This “forgetfulness” adds to the shameful censorship carried out by the Mayor who this year too prevented the Paganelli Philharmonic from singing Bella Ciao”, concludes the statement.
