The worst situation in the Riale Valley where the water flowed, submerging the numerous parked cars.
There have been along the provincial road of Parata, which connects Rio nell’Elba to Cavo land subsidence from the embankments on the roadway, furthermore there were interventions by the Civil Protection for unsafe rocks along the provincial road to Portoferraio. The intermunicipal Civil Protection is working to remove a van stuck in the Rio Ditch.
Cars submerged in water
The power of water transformed the Riale valley into a river, also dragging parked cars with it. The area is often used as a car park despite the ban on parking in case of rain or weather warnings.
About fifteen cars were submerged in the water and removed.
The most important intervention was the recovery of a cab van, dragged by the water that acted as a plug at the light of a bridge over a ditch. The removal allowed the correct flow of water. A wheeled bulldozer and harnesses were used.
The cars were also recovered immersed in water up to the middle of the door due to flooding in the same area thanks to an off-road vehicle that pulled them away.
There are no injuries
At the moment no public assistance or mercy intervention was necessary to bring medical aid to people.
Watch out below monitoring the evolution of the disturbance which should move to the Livorno coast with, however, lighter rainfall.
