An Albanian citizen who was subject to a precautionary custody order from the investigating judge of Perugia was tracked down and arrested in his homeland. The man is believed to be a member of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking. The man was identified thanks to an investigation carried out by the staff of the Nic of the penitentiary police. According to what has been reconstructed by the investigations, the criminal syndicate of which the arrested person was part was responsible for bringing large loads of cocaine to Perugia which was then sold at retail, in this specific case, around a building on the outskirts of the city. When the searches for the suspect were extended to an international level following input from the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Appeal of Perugia, it was possible to broaden the scope of the investigation. Consequently, thanks to the Cooperation Service, it was possible to identify International Police, the wanted man who is now in prison in Tirana, waiting for the extradition procedures to be completed.
