“Total dissent and indignation for the pruning of the araucaria in via Lamarmora in Sanremo” – says a reader, Michela Alborno, with a report.
“On Monday 22nd April we were celebrating ‘Earth Day’, which focused on respect for nature and the environment, and while passing by car near the military residence in via Lamarmora in Sanremo I felt a blow to my heart when I saw the young araucaria, a precious masterpiece of nature, mostly healthy, amputated in the low branches” – points out – “I wonder how it is possible for such things to happen.”
“Sanremo, which prides itself on being the ‘city of flowers’ (there is now the Villa Ormond in fiore event), for years has worked hard to get people talking about the flowers of Sanremo all over the world, and now it shows a superficiality which offends both common sense and nature” – comment – “Whoever plants trees must expect them to grow! I ask that a rule be introduced in the municipal regulation that expresses the prohibition on planting trees in traffic islands and on administrators more concrete attention towards the environment”.
