With this sentence the mayor Chiara Frontini tried this morning to dampen the citizens’ spirits following the protests linked to the violent brawl that took place yesterday evening at the Shrine.
The comments of the residents of the area were inevitable and they immediately reminded the first citizen of how many other events have occurred in that area, primarily drug dealing incidents which occur daily before the eyes of many people.
One, “reported” by the Viterbo Police Headquarters, occurred at the end of March when an urban Daspo was issued for a 35-year-old foreigner accused of harassing past people due to drunkenness. A real drop in a large sea of frequent episodes that extend to the entire historic center.

The police made an arrest yesterday evening 3 people for aggravated brawl: two Italians (convicts) aged 35 and 46 and a 33 years old of Afghan nationality. A settling of accounts, it seems, probably occurred as “revenge” following another violent incident that had developed some time ago between the two rival gangs.
A double slip for the first citizen, which confirms her total absence in the city panorama and a bland contact with the authorities, given the gross error regarding the nationality of those involved and their (serious) precedents, which make yesterday’s affair the consequence of a strong neglect of the safety problem in the city.
