Amts, public transport guaranteed on May 1st

“For the first time in the company’s history, the local public transport service in the city will also be guaranteed on May 1st, Labor Day.” This is confirmed by the Catania spa metropolitan transport and parking company, which asked for and obtained from its employees “collaboration, understanding and a spirit of service, as they have always demonstrated and demonstrate on this occasion too”.

Amts made this choice within the directives of the municipality of Catania, which has strengthened initiatives in favor of tourism in the city. In fact, it is about guaranteeing an essential service for thousands of people, including many tourists, who are choosing to visit Catania. “A tourist dimension positively achieved over the years by the Etna capital, which however requires an effort from everyone, starting from those who guarantee essential public services, such as Amts”, we read in the note.

For this reason, the Company, through its sole director, Giacomo Bellavia, thanks the workers for the commitment and attention shown, as well as the unions, who proved sensitive to the issue, allowing an agreement to be reached on the matter. For May 1st, therefore, the Company has proposed a holiday service program, similar to that exercised on the other main anniversaries. Last aspect, certainly not insignificant, is a real “change of mentality”, which coincides with the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the Company.

“In fact, the creation of the public transport service on May 1st had never occurred, a sign of change and greater awareness of the strategic role that AMTS plays in the lives of citizens and tourists”, concludes the note. For information on timetables and shifts on May 1, 2024, it will be possible to visit the Company’s institutional website at: https://www.amts.ct.it/
